... hooray for ditch lilies anyway ... on the formerly rural county road near where I live, there used to be literally linear acres of wild daylilies (in the roadside ditches) ... housing developers have replaced many with sterile turf "landscaping" ... and some myopic road worker just blasted most of the rest with a huge tractor-powered rotary mower just as they were about to start blooming ... I think next year I will get some "Meadow Restoration" signs from the state and perform some environmental vigilantism ...

Agree with you about Ditch Lilies! Can't imagine that was done near you .. oh, how I dislike sterile landscaping ... aka Construction/Landscape cheap !
See if you can (along with that great sign) some native Wildflowers ...
Wildflowers are planted in North Carolina along the Interstates - started by wife of a former governor. As the Interstate goes from one county into another, the flowers change -- the local souls really get into competition as to 'who has the best look' !
I remember how Pam J was impressed when we got her from the airport -- seeing all the flowers along the Interstate.
