A section of Dunstaffnage Castle ruins,
The castle is built on an outcrop rock using what appears to be an odd mix of stone, (Large View) I think the colours of the stone in the wall to left are beautiful!.
The castle which was built before 1240 has a very defensive position having water on three sides, it covers from Firth of Lorn to the Pass of Brander also Ardmucknish Bay and the entrance to Loch Etive.
HWW to all!

A distant Old Man of Storr and the eastern end of the Isle of Skye's Trotternish Ridge from captured from the western side,
Standing at 55 metres high, the ‘old man’ component of the name derives from the fact that when seen from the front, the rocky pinnacle and The Storr behind it create the face of a haggard and craggy old man.
Trotternish is the northernmost peninsula of the Island and the ridge extends for the majority of its length 30 kilometres (20 miles) It also contains other major features such as the and Kilt Rock!
HFF and a nice weekend,,,,,, Large for details!

Port of Ness village, Isle of Lewis, Outher Hebrides, Scotland, HWW!
Nis, or Ness, is the most northerly parish in Lewis. It has the highest proportion of Gaelic speakers in Scotland, over 90%. It was settled by the Norse and its story since then has been closely tied to seafaring and to the sea.

Chapel with a tragic history in the grounds of Dunstaffnage Castle,
1462 is the year and events unfolded on the 20th December as a bridal party walked through the woods from the castle, The 3rd Lord of Lorn Sir John Stewart a widower was to marry his mistress a MacLaren of Ardvich with whom he already had a son.
However before reached the chapel a vengeful relative who had hidden in the bushes ambushed and stabbed him several times, He was carried into the chapel where he found enough breath to make his wedding vows before he died, This ensured his sons inheritance!
