Pontivy offers an astonishing contrast: on one side, the winding streets of the old town, with its half-timbered houses and medieval facades, such as the Roscoët town house built in 1578 (see PiP), and on the other, the straight avenues and neoclassical facades of the Napoleonic period. In fact, this was one of Bonaparte's major urban projects, and for a decade the town was even known as Napoléonville! SIGNÉ NAPOLÉON. Un contraste étonnant à Pontivy : d'un côté les ruelles sinueuses de la vieille ville, avec ses maisons à colombages et façades médiévales, comme l'hôtel particulier de Roscoët construit en 1578 (voir PiP), de l'autre les avenues rectilignes et les façades néoclassiques de la période napoléonienne. En effet, c'était un des grands projets urbains de Bonaparte, et la cité prendra même, le temps d’une décennie, le nom de Napoléonville ! GEZEICHNET NAPOLEON. Ein erstaunlicher Kontrast in Pontivy : auf der einen Seite die verwinkelten Gassen der Altstadt mit ihren Fachwerkhäusern und mittelalterlichen Fassaden, wie das 1578 erbaute Stadthaus Roscoët (siehe PiP), auf der anderen Seite die geradlinigen Avenuen und neoklassizistischen Fassaden aus der Napoleonischen Zeit. Tatsächlich war dies eines der grossen städtebaulichen Projekte Bonapartes, und die Stadt nahm für die Dauer eines Jahrzehnts sogar den Namen Napoleonville an !

au Golfe du Morbihan, un cadre idyllique pour se détendre en profitant de la plage pendant la journée et des couchers de soleil le soir. Le golfe du Morbihan est une mer intérieure d'une longueur est-ouest d'env. 20 km, parsemée de nombreuses îles. La brochure touristique dit "Un paradis pour les vacances, un havre de paix pour une escale bucolique. ici, la belle saison s'étale sur presque toute l'année". La légende veut que le golfe ait été créé par les larmes des fées chassées de la forêt de Brocéliande. Les fées y auraient ensuite jeté leur couronne qui seraient devenues les îles... The Gulf of Morbihan is an inland sea with an east-west length of around 20 km, criss-crossed by numerous islands. The tourist brochure says: "A holiday paradise, a haven of peace for a bucolic stopover. Here, the beautiful season lasts almost all year round". According to legend, the gulf was created by the tears of the fairies who were driven out of the forest of Brocéliande. The fairies then threw their crowns into the lake, which became the islands... AN DER LANDSPITZE VON PENBOC'H am Golf von Morbihan, eine idyllische Umgebung, in der man tagsüber den Strand und abends die Sonnenuntergänge geniessen kann. Der Golf von Morbihan ist ein Binnenmeer mit einer Ost-West-Länge von ca. 20 km, das von zahlreichen Inseln durchzogen ist. In der Tourismusbroschüre heisst es: "Ein Urlaubsparadies, eine Oase der Ruhe für einen bukolischen Zwischenstopp. Hier erstreckt sich die schöne Jahreszeit über fast das ganze Jahr“. Der Legende nach wurde der Golf durch die Tränen der Feen geschaffen, die aus dem Wald von Brocéliande vertrieben wurden. Dann warfen die Feen ihre Kronen in den See, aus dem die Inseln entstanden sind...

...ou "Tronjoly", c'est la traduction du breton "Traon-joliff". Ce manoir est une élégante construction du XVIIIème siècle à la façade bien régulière. Aujourd'hui c'est la salle des fêtes de la ville ainsi qu'un gîte d'étape sur la route de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. "BEAUTIFUL VALLEY" or "Tronjoly", it's the translation of the Breton "Traon-joliff". The manor house is an elegant 18th-century building with a regular facade. Today it is the town's village hall and a stopover lodge on the route to Santiago de Compostela. "SCHÖNES TAL" oder "Tronjoly", das ist die Übersetzung aus dem bretonischen "Traon-joliff". Dieses Herrenhaus ist ein eleganter Bau aus dem 18. Jh. mit einer regelmässigen Fassade. Heute ist es der Festsaal der Stadt sowie eine Etappenunterkunft auf dem Weg nach Santiago de Compostela.

In the background is the monument dedicated to the "Sonneurs Breizh", musicians playing the bombarde, the biniou or other types of bagpipes. Every year, the town holds the "Championnat des sonneurs de Bretagne" (Breton Pipers' Championship), which has been listed in France's Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. DANS LE PARC DU CHÂTEAU. On voit au fond le monument dédié aux "Sonneurs Breizh", des musiciens jouant de la bombarde, du biniou ou autre type de cornemuse. Tous les ans, dans cette ville a lieu le "Championnat des sonneurs de Bretagne", répertorié par l'Inventaire du patrimoine culturel immatériel en France. IM SCHLOSSPARK. Im Hintergrund das Denkmal der "Sonneurs Breizh", der Musiker, die die Bombarde, den Biniou oder andere Dudelsack-Arten spielen. Jedes Jahr findet in der Stadt das "Championnat des sonneurs de Bretagne" (Meisterschaft der bretonischen Dudelsackspieler) statt, das in das Verzeichnis des französischen immateriellen Kulturerbes aufgenommen wurde.

Wenn man den Weg von der Kapelle Ste. Barbe hinuntersteigt, gelangt man zum "Heiligen Brunnen". Er beherbergt eine Statue der Hl. Barbara und stammt aus dem Jahr 1708. Man sagt, dass die einheimischen Mädchen den Brunnen zu Wahrsagungszwecken nutzten: wenn die Nadeln, die sie hineinwarfen, schwammen, würden sie innerhalb eines Jahres einen Ehemann finden;-) LIEU DE LEGENDE. En descendant le sentier à partir de la chapelle Ste Barbe, on peut accéder à la "Fontaine sacrée". Elle abrite une statue de Ste Barbe et date de 1708. On raconte que les jeunes filles du pays l'utilisaient à des fins divinatoires : si les épingles qu'elles y jetaient surnageaient, elles trouvaient un mari dans l'année;-) PLACE OF LEGEND... Descending the path from Ste Barbe's chapel, you can reach the "Sacred Fountain". It houses a statue of Saint Barbara and dates back to 1708. It is said that the local girls used the fountain for divinatory purposes: if the pins they threw into swam, they would find a husband within the year;-)

Chapelle Sainte-Barbe is a true architectural gem dating from the 15th century. It was built into the rock, dominating the river Ellé valley and offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. It was overcast that day, but a few years ago I was there on a summer morning, so a completely different picture emerges (1st PiP). EXCEPTIONNEL DE PART SA LOCALISATION ET SA TOPOGRAPHIE. La Chapelle Sainte-Barbe est un véritable joyau architectural du XVème siècle. Elle a été construite sur la roche, dominant ainsi la vallée de l'Ellé et offrant une vue imprenable sur les alentours. Ce jour-là, le temps était couvert, mais il y a quelques années, j'y étais un matin d'été, alors une tout autre image se présente (1° PiP). AUSSERGEWÖHNLICH AUFGRUND IHRER LAGE UND TOPOGRAFIE. Die Kapelle Sainte-Barbe ist ein wahres architektonisches Juwel aus dem 15. Jh. Sie wurde auf Felsen errichtet und überragt so das Tal des Ellé-Flusses und bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die Umgebung. An diesem Tag war es bewölkt, aber vor ein paar Jahren war ich an einem Sommermorgen dort, so dass sich ein ganz anderes Bild ergab (1. PiP).

2° site mégalithique après Carnac : à MONTENEUF , c'est la rencontre des plus nombreux alignements de menhirs de Bretagne intérieure : on dénombre 420 monolithes et 42 pierres redressées !

C’est à Plouray que bat le pouls de la spiritualité bouddhique de Bretagne, tournée vers la tradition orale des Drupka (le Dalaï-Lama y est reçu en 2008). Blotti au milieu des bois, le centre bouddhique est dédié à l’étude et la pratique du bouddhisme tibétain et est aussi un havre de paix pour se ressourcer. Le centre est constitué d’un stupa, d’un temple, d’un jardin de méditation et d’un moulin à prières. BUDDHA IN THE LAND OF KING MORVAN (he is considered the first king of a unified Brittany). It is in Plouray that the pulse of Buddhist spirituality in Brittany beats, turned towards the oral tradition of the Drupka (the Dalai Lama was received there in 2008). Nestled in the middle of the woods, the Buddhist Center is dedicated to the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and is also a haven of peace for recharging your batteries. The center consists of a stupa, a temple, a meditation garden and a prayer wheel. BUDDHA IM LAND VON KÖNIG MORVAN (er gilt als erster König einer vereinigten Bretagne). In Plouray schlägt der Puls der buddhistischen Spiritualität der Bretagne, die sich der mündlichen Überlieferung des Drupka zuwendet (der Dalai Lama wurde dort 2008 empfangen). Mitten im Wald gelegen, widmet sich das buddhistische Zentrum dem Studium und der Praxis des tibetischen Buddhismus und ist auch eine Oase der Ruhe, um neue Energie zu tanken. Das Zentrum besteht aus einem Stupa, einem Tempel, einem Meditationsgarten und einer Gebetsmühle.

Le château Turpault marque l'entrée de la Côte Sauvage. Il ne fut construit qu'en 1904, de style anglo-médiéval, c'est une propriété privée qui ne se visite pas. Il est situé sur une pointe étroite, entouré de l'océan par 3 côtés. Lors de notre passage, il y avait marée basse et la mer était calme, mais souvent il est fouetté par le vent et les hautes vagues (voir PiP 2 et 3, scannées d'après cartes postales). CASTLE AT THE WATER! The Turpault Castle marks the entrance to the wild coast. It was built in 1904, in an Anglo-medieval style and is a private property that can not be visited. It is located on a narrow headland, surrounded by 3 sides of the ocean. When we were there, it was low tide and the sea was quiet, but it is often whipped by the wind and the high waves (see PiP 2 and 3, scanned after postcards). SCHLOSS IM WASSER ! Das Schloss Turpault markiert den Eingang zur wilden Küste. Es wurde erst 1904 erbaut, in anglo-mittelalterlichem Stil und ist ein Privatbesitz, der nicht besichtigt werden kann. Es befindet sich auf einer schmalen Landspitze, von 3 Seiten umgeben vom Ozean. Als wir dort waren, war gerade Ebbe und das Meer war ruhig, aber oft wird es vom Wind und den hohen Wellen gepeitscht (siehe PiP 2 und 3, nach Postkarten gescannt).

La côte sauvage à l'ouest de la presqu'île de Quiberon s'étend sur 8 km, l'océan y a sculpté la roche et les falaises. Aux grandes marées, on y voit la force de la nature y déchaîner les éléments. Chaque vague est un assaut de l’océan alors que la falaise montre ses vertus de résistance. The wild coast in the west of the Quiberon peninsula stretches for 8 km, the sea has formed the rocks and cliffs there. At high tides you can see here how the forces of nature unleash the elements. Each wave is an attack from the ocean where the cliffs show their resilience. Die wilde Küste im Westen der Halbinsel Quiberon erstreckt sich über 8 km, das Meer hat dort die Felsen und die Klippen geformt. Bei Springfluten sieht man hier, wie die Naturgewalten die Elemente entfesseln. Jede Welle ist ein Angriff des Ozeans, wo die Klippen ihre Widerstandskraft zeigen.
