The Sunday Challenge: korte sluitertijd Een frisbee vangen in het Oosterpark, gegooid door iemand links buiten beeld. Erachter een ander spel met kegels en erachter het beeld 'Spelende kinderen' van Gerda Rubinstein (1957-1958), dit herinnert ons eraan dat kinderen van elke leeftijd hier onder normale omstandigheden vrij kunnen spelen. Detail van het Nationaal monument slavernijverleden in het Oosterpark in Amsterdam. Twee mensen, geketend tot slavernij, hun gezichten vervormd. De foto is genomen met een ‘Dutch tilt’, Links van de linker figuur is dat te zien in de achtergrond. Ook staan de figuren in werkelijkheid voorover gebogen. Nederland is een plat land en kent geen bergen. Toch zijn er een aantal plaatsen met steile hellingen, o.a. hier in het Oosterpark. In de fotografie en in de cinema wordt ‘Dutch tilt’ gebruikt om aan te geven dat er iets vreemds of ongemakkelijks aan de hand is, hier zijn het de drie bomen die verticaal lijken te staan... Scherptediepte en ISO waren gelijk tijdens de opname, verschillen in de belichting zijn in de nabewerking weggewerkt. Opdracht was ‘opwaarts’. Op de foto een watercipres in herfstkleuren met hangende manlijke en vrouwelijke kegels, tegen een blauwe hemel. Voor een natuurlijk contrast koos ik ervoor om een in het zonlicht hangende tak te fotograferen, en de andere takken dus zoveel mogelijk in de schaduw. Daarvoor is zijlicht nodog. Ook de kleine scherptediepte speelt een rol: hierdoor wordt de aandacht gevestigd op de door de zon belichte tak en kegels, en niet op de rest. On the photo a dawn redwood in autumn colours with hanging male and female cones, against a blue sky. For a natural contrast I chose to photograpgh an in the sunlight hanging branch and as far as possible the other branches in the shadow. Therefore it is needed the light is coming from the side. Also the shallow depth of field is playing a role: the attention is drawn to the branch shone upon by the sun, and not on the remainder. The tree is the same as the one I photographed in the background of last week’s challenge.
