Saturday Self Challenge: Upward

Opdracht was ‘opwaarts’.

Op de foto een watercipres in herfstkleuren met hangende manlijke en vrouwelijke kegels, tegen een blauwe hemel. Voor een natuurlijk contrast koos ik ervoor om een in het zonlicht hangende tak te fotograferen, en de andere takken dus zoveel mogelijk in de schaduw. Daarvoor is zijlicht nodog. Ook de kleine scherptediepte speelt een rol: hierdoor wordt de aandacht gevestigd op de door de zon belichte tak en kegels, en niet op de rest.
De boom is dezelfde als die in de achtergrond van vorige week.

Challenge was ‘upward’.

On the photo a dawn redwood in autumn colours with hanging male and female cones, against a blue sky. For a natural contrast I chose to photograpgh an in the sunlight hanging branch and as far as possible the other branches in the shadow. Therefore it is needed the light is coming from the side. Also the shallow depth of field is playing a role: the attention is drawn to the branch shone upon by the sun, and not on the remainder.
The tree is the same as the one I photographed in the background of last week’s challenge.
