Photos In A Photograph

29 Jan 2024 5 10 129
Re-scanned for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: PHOTOS IN PHOTOS It 's not certain who these people are but it was SO fun to discover that the photo on the far right of the shelf was Fred Grimshaw - the little boy with the toy horse in my photo stream under Grimshaw Family Set. (Easier to see in X Large.) Fred's picture was not in the Halkard/Grimshaw Album - it came to me from my mother in law and was framed (not the same frame though.) It was her maternal uncle. My family thought it was crazy that I would look at this picture so closely that I could see this - but I know that other vintage photo lovers can relate! Here's the photo I'm referring to:

At the Piano

17 Nov 2016 4 6 535
Another side of the Michigan woman, who was bringing you a dead groundhog and brandishing a gun the last time you saw her. I like that she has her apron on. Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "At the Piano". This is a photograph from an album I bought several years ago, featuring a Michigan family. This was taken in 1914 by a family member (I think.) The photos all look as though they were developed at home.

"The Front Room", Seymour Road

01 Jan 2016 3 2 377
Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "The passage of time". This photo (taken by my mother) shows the front room in her family's London flat, 1948. One of those timeless rooms that remained exactly the same for decades. It also had a glass fronted cabinet and a piano. The clock had Big Ben chimes. Taken in 1948. 79 Seymour Road, Leyton, London.

Our New House, c.1958

23 Jan 2024 4 5 271
Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: STEPS, STAIRS, STAIRCASES Our hallway in Woodlands Avenue, Rayleigh, Essex, England. We only lived here from 1958 to 1964 - although it felt like forever to me. Every detail and color is still so clear to me - wallpaper, stair runner, blanket chest, the tile windowsill and pewter vase.

Vintage Family Dinner

08 Jun 2009 8 1 362
Victorian clutter in all it's glory. Found photo in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. Moved up for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of Thanksgiving or Family Gatherings Around the Table. Probably not Thanksgiving unless those are florist flowers, but some sort of family celebration anyway.

Interior Shot c1900

I don't know who these people are but the photo on the far right of the mantel is the picture of Fred Grimshaw in my Grimshaw set - with the toy horse at his feet. It could be Ada in the middle, her grandmother Maryann to the left and her mother Sarah Grimshaw to the right. From the Halkard/Grimshaw"Unspecified" album. Ada b. 1883 - so I think this would be c.1998. (She would be 15) Sarah Halkyard (Grimshaw) b.1859 (She would be 39) Can't be Sarah's mother on the left as she died in 1885 - unless "Grandmother" Holkard" is not the same as Mary Ann Halkard. It is a mystery who these people are but it was SO fun to discover that the photo on the far right of the mantel was Fred Grimshaw - the little boy with the toy horse in my photo stream under Grimshaw Family Set. Fred's picture was not in the Halkard/Grimshaw Album - it came to me from my mother in law and was framed (not the same frame though.) My family thought it was crazy that I would look at this picture so closely that I could see this - but I know that other vintage photo lovers can relate! A note from a Dave Miller when posted years ago on Flkr. "The print on the wall I have noted is "Baby Stuart" by Van Dyke. My grandmother from New Jersey always had this picture hanging in her house. I think my mother has it up now."
