Volkswagen is undoubtedly high on my list but this vehicle is absolutely intriguing in its own right. At first I thought it must be a Subaru Sambar [qv] which looks similar but this is a shortened bus rebuilt with a Nissan Leaf motor and transmission. 200_3_P1110977R

This Karmann Ghia was arriving as I left from my first visit. It is apparent that, although issued sequentially, California plates do not directly indicate age as 8JRU is within the current series which has reached (at the time of posting) at least 8MTE. 200_3_P1110829CE

High on my list of favourites was this 1964 Volkswagen 21 Window Samba Microbus. It might seem counter-intuitive to photographic style but I wanted to include the wrapping and I have, quite unintentionally, gained a reflection which is nearly photographic in its own right. Several of the gathering vehicles were similarly wrapped perhaps against the possibility of dust from overnight showers. This bus had the additional protection of a precious canopy space. 200_3_P1110815CE
