After an hiatus of four years, I was back in Palm Springs at the right time for my third visit to a McCormick's Palm Springs Collector Car Auction, their 67th. The arrival day, a Thursday, provides an opportunity for relaxed viewing before the lot gets too crowded. I sought out my favourite types. This Karmann Ghia was arriving as I left from my first visit.

It is apparent that, although issued sequentially, California plates do not directly indicate age as 8JRU is within the current series which has reached (at the time of posting) at least 8MTE.
