After an hiatus of four years, I was back in Palm Springs at the right time for my third visit to a McCormick's Palm Springs Collector Car Auction, their 67th. The first official day offers free admission and a relaxed atmosphere in which to seek out ones favourite marques. Volkswagen is undoubtedly high on my list but this vehicle is absolutely intriguing in its own right. At first I thought it must be a Subaru Sambar [qv] which looks similar but this is a shortened bus rebuilt with a Nissan Leaf motor and transmission.
