May is a magic month in the Sierra. Cantueso is the wild lavender variety found in the southern Iberian peninsula. Sierra de La Cabrera. Shot in May 2011 and first posted in ipernity in 2016.

Sierra de La Cabrera. Rock rose. Spanish has cistus and also jara (jara, apparently means smelling of sh.t in arabic). But I don't get it. Yes, there can be a heady, cloying, almost sickly air on some days but usually the aroma, mixed in with the lavender, rosemary and thyme is to die for!

Sierra de La Cabrera, Madrid Province, Spain, Europe, Planet Earth. Aren't Google a bunch of sh.tes. But then we knew that already. I wonder if they know they are easily the most hated company in the universe and if so, why don't they care about that fact.My guess is that It will come out and bite them very severly. And sooner than they think!

The path was treacherous even with good boots. So sandy and with loose gravel mixed in; very difficult to get any kind of purchase, but you expect that with dry weather and you learn to cope with experience. I actually find scrambling in among the rocks and boulders far easier and more satisfying!
