HWW ~ Between walls

08 Jan 2025 23 33 156
Overnight snow and heavy fog tempts me a little higher above my hometown to this scene. A country lane here that is most pleasant in the summer is turned into something quite different for a vehicle. I was surprised to encounter the two other walkers and their dog who were making a far more serious hike in this weather than me. I had rather sensibly left my own car some few hundred metres on the cleared main road behind me. Enjoy the day.

A Merry Christmas to all my Ipernity friends.

From Yeoman Hey reservoir in Winter. A golden misty morning at my favorite walking and photographic spot reveals another fine scene. This is the second reservoir of three in a row. It a gorgeous view when the water is still, but today I have some very rare mesmerizing low mist too. Enjoy full screen Wishing you all a Very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The trees in mist

16 Nov 2015 9 6 460
There is something about these trees in this mist that suggest that they are on the move. For me, a grand subject, taken in my local park.

HBM~ The bench in the mist

14 Feb 2022 27 36 238
A winter scene from my local Alexandra Park here. Another from the archives (2008) but still standing the test of time – I think. Not a time to sit here today but in summer it is a very nice place for a read or rest. Best viewed full size. Have a great day.

December mist from Friezland

19 Dec 2021 24 26 208
December often gives us some morning mist over here in Saddleworth. Another of our twice weekly walks brings us past this farmland in the area known as Friezland, where the farmer has decided that giving land over to holiday caravans is more profitable than farming. As a former caravaner I can sympathise with both scenarios here. For the present these caravaners can enjoy with me this wonderful misty scene. Enjoy full screen.

A rural Autumn

31 Oct 2021 28 21 269
The last of my Autumnal photos of yesteryear now, shows another local scene. Taken on a very cold morning we are not far from water here hence the presence of more mist than normal. The horses are needing some protection against the cold in this weather and they take little notice of the Canada Geese that seem to be on the increase around here. Enjoy full screen and Keep safe. Spring morning in Scotland

28 May 2021 38 61 303
This is the view from the bottom of our holiday cottage garden (and also the view from our large French windows.) Its early morning and the sight of the mist is broken only by the chirps and whistles of the many birds that inhabit this part of the Queen Elizabeth Forest. In fact a male Cuckoo calls forlornly in the distance. Enjoy full size and have a great week.

Scotch mist

21 May 2021 59 77 412
The phrase 'Scotch mist' is used humorously to refer to something that is hard to find or doesn't exist - something imagined. Maybe it was all a dream – it was very early for me after all here in Aberfoyle. And no, it was not me who left the red ribbon there for photographic balancing effect! (to stop the picture from falling over right-ways) :) Enjoy full size and have a great week.

The Trossachs of Scotland: Mist in May

19 May 2021 31 39 321
Its early morning at Aberfolye and this is our first full day here. The last thing I expected was mist and so I jumped into my outdoor cloths and ran down the lane which overlooked these fields and local hills. I liked this tree and the horse was a pure bonus, as I felt the cold coming through my gloves and by-now very wet trainers, walking through the frosty dew covered fields. The mist moved around like a magic veil. Enjoy full size.

Man and light

19 Nov 2020 26 30 266
Man’s creations in these buildings vie for attention against the might of nature’s light. The mist in the valleys has risen just near the top of the foot hills of the Pennine moors and the sky above is beginning to let the sun though and find the gaps. But for us here, let’s forget about technicalities and just enjoy the spectacle of this wonderful sight. Full screen essential.

Misty day on the canal

05 Dec 2018 27 25 534
As autumn turns to winter we see here the classic results of cold ground temperatures alongside warmer air. Who cannot resist a run around with one's camera to try and capture such scenes as this. Taken on the Huddersfield canal at my local village of Greenfield in what promised to be the start of a wondrous morning of light and mist for me.

Alexandra Park fountain in Autumn

11 Nov 2020 28 24 393
A light autumn mist compels me to dash to my local Alexandra Park again and I am not disappointed in what I see. Here is perhaps its most noteworthy sculpture –its fountain. For many years devoid of water and life, thankfully fully restored now to its former glory as seen here. Of course once again it really the light here that makes it for me, hopefully for you too. Enjoy full screen

Crummock Water moods

Another view from the eastern shore of this water showing the weather and lighting on the local fells. Enjoy full screen

A visit to Crummock Water

12 Oct 2020 25 21 326
Our second full day here in the Lakes and its Crummock Water for us, despite the bad weather forecast and a constant drizzle as we set off. - So here we are just starting along this muddy Western shore from the South. Rain gear donned and a quick wipe to clear the water drops from my lens,to capture this one. I am sure that this is the average look of the lake and its surroundings. Fortunately, the weather was to improve before we got back. Enjoy.

The Wonders of Mallorca: Port de Sóller – Misty M…

02 Aug 2020 18 18 250
2014: A brief one week visit to Port de Sóller on the Baleriac Island of Mallorca (Marjorca) brings back happy memories. I took many photos as usual and I present to you now some of those. This first one was taken from our hotel front after a night of heavy rain with thunder and lightning. Behind the port promenade frontage is a natural wilderness and steep mountain foothills. The lighting effect here is caused by thick ground mist in the fields rising to obscure the hillside trees which can just be made out. Enjoy full size.

Winter mist at Lees

29 Dec 2014 13 11 529
Just a stroll from my home, this fenced bend attracts me like a moth to flame. Taken on the onset of our first snowfall of the winter of 2014/15

A Winter's tale

24 Jan 2019 25 29 501
Winter has finally arrived with some snow on my home town of Oldham's high ground. A scene towards 'Austerlands' from Waterhead, where frost snow and mist start to blend together as one. A mighty cold morning, but as always with these, rewarding if one can only pluck up the courage to go out and capture it. Perfect on full screen.

Storm lighting at Rossbeigh.

23 Jan 2019 41 44 700
The storms have gone - for the time being, but the moody lighting hangs about for some time yet. A lone walker chances the weather and it is another chance to get a much liked mood shot for me. Best enlarged. Pip
