As the sun dips over the horizon and we move into the blue hour we are treated to a scene of tranquillity reminding us of days long past.
This taken in Suffolk some time back now.
This was posted here for this month CWP competition (The Blue Hour) but on reflection was a little too red for that and so here it is for you now.
Enjoy full screen.
Here is the one substituted for the competition: www.ipernity.com/doc/1081863/50649164

A capture taken in New Quay, Wales. Taken whilst doing a Welsh coast tour of three weeks some years back now. I liked the colour harmony and diagonal angles here.
New Quay is a seaside town in Ceredigion. Located 19 miles south-west of Aberystwyth, on Cardigan Bay with a harbour and large sandy beaches, the town lies on the Ceredigion Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
HWW, enjoy the day
St Brides Bay adventure

A photo from way back in 2012 whilst doing a Welsh coast tour. A particularly likeable photo for me as this rope reminded me of some lost primeval sea reptile. A very welcome walk under blue skies after many days of torrential rain. See Pip for alternative view.
St Brides Bay is a bay in western Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Either Skomer Island or the mainland extremity of Wooltack Point at the western end of the Marloes Peninsula marks the southern limit of the bay whilst its northern limit is marked by Ramsey Island off St David's Head.

The Marloes, Wales

A vintage 2012 capture taken on our Welsh coast tour. We stayed near here in our caravan, so a lightning run to the rocks and coast when I saw such lighting was possible.
"Marloes: is a village and parish in Pembrokeshire, Wales, on the Marloes Peninsula 7 miles west of Milford Haven and forms the western tip of the southern shore of St Brides Bay. It is within part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park." Wikipedia

Taken during a Welsh tour in 2012. On this day the mist swirled and this hill came and disappeared from view.
The red bike!

The canals of Amsterdam are quite beautiful as well as practical in this watery city. Such bikes on these bridges have been photographed, painted and drawn many times by artist and tourist alike. Here is my attempt at being artistic with this subject too. Taken after a canal boat trip along this very same stretch of water.
Enjoy this snowy weekend.

Another blast from the past with this monochrome. Taken in the coastal village of Aldeburgh in Suffolk some time ago. Of course you can see why I liked this at the time with those shadows.

Foxstone Cairn

Once when I was feeling more energetic than I seem to be at the moment, I used to walk along the high ridge overlooking Dovestones dam. Up there are a few very interesting rocks and on top of one (Foxstone) we have a man-made cairn. Of course the late light on the rocks make this. A year later I was to revisit the same cairn almost on the same day, in winter snows. See PiP. Taken in 2012/2013

Just at the side of the Göta Kanal in Gothenburg, Sweden lies this memorial to the age of sail, albeit on land. In an case, making for an attractive photo in this contre-jour misty setting. Enjoy
A promenade fence

Taken a few years back now, this splendid iron fence adorns the promenade of our Yorkshire coastal town of Filey. Over the years countless layers of white paint has been added onto this, to counter the constant salt spray, but as you can see the rust still prevails giving it an attractive look too. The top rail is in fact painted a very similar but darker rich ochre colour. In the distance one can see the headland of the famous Filey Brig.
PiP shows Filey itself.
HFF, enjoy the weekend.
The mighty Matterhorn

The Matterhorn (Monte Cervino) at 4,478 metres (14,692 ft) is certainly an impressive mountain, in fact one of the highest in the Alps and Europe. This Eastern face is taken from Switzerland near the iconic village of Zermat, some time back in 1986 whilst on a skiing holiday in Cervinia on its Italian side. A Fuji slide conversion, dormant after its projection many years ago and then conversion in 2012, until today.
As always, better full screen.

The colours of the Yorkshire coast

Another retro look here, in these days of very limited outings and travel that most of us here in Britain are adhering to. This time just outside the seaside-town of Filey, East Yorkshire. Just around the corner from its famous narrow peninsula into the sea named Filey Brig. Taken in April 2012
Enjoy large.
