Gillian Everett clubNOTE: Topics 19, 30, 33, 37, 41 ... Inspired by, style of, historic artists.
Many of the artists have works in the Public Domain, so they can actually be reproduced, modified, etc.
However, the intent here is "in the STYLE of" for example Henri Matisse's 1948 painting "The Pineapple", so an entry for Scavenger could be a still life including a pineapple.
Creative works using original paintings are also OK as long as they are in the Public Domain, or you have taken a photo of an artwork in your home.
I actually have a print and a postcard of Matisse's 1948 Pineapple, and have posted various photos over the years..
I believe Matisse's 1924 still life with pineapple is now Public Domain.
Gillian Everett clubPlease feel free to suggest, or add, a description or guide in comments HERE for any topic.
Gudrun clubAn example: a photograph of a book can infringe copyright of the artist who designed the cover, even if the author has been dead for centuries.
Privacy issues: for photos of people you normally have to have written permission of the subject who can nevertheless retract that permission at any time.
The obvious solution to all that would be making the photos private so they can only be seen in the group but not in your photo stream. Obviously they also wouldn't be visible in an album.
Gillian Everett club has replied to Gudrun clubThat's interesting about book covers. I have published many photos of book covers, over many years, in response to challenge topics, as have many of my photo pals. One lady regularly publishes photos of the last books she has read.
I'm wondering if it is deemed "fair use" as non commercial in a research/project way, i.e. discussing or reviewing.

This one was for Scavenger Hunt 2019, topic SH14 A book in a different language to yours, with a number of entries from the other members for this topic.
As you say, if members are concerned about this they can post the photo privately so that it can only be seen in the group.
Gillian Everett club has replied to Gudrun clubI also have taken many people photos, including street candids, etc. and have a street photography group, with many candid photos.

Most of these are taken on the basis that if it is a public place, then people photos are permissible. However, I have a personal guideline that they should be in good taste, and preferably a flattering image of the subject, and definitely no nudity.
In the case of my 100 strangers project, I always had permission.

Gudrun clubGillian Everett club has replied to Gudrun clubIf there is any doubt about a specific topic, or entry for that topic, then the photo can be private and only viewable within the group.
M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!… club has replied to Gudrun clubGillian Everett club has replied to M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!… clubGenerally, if referring to other people's work, for example, a photograph of a published book, attribution should be given, i.e. a description of the work, or whatever is appropriate.
If you feel uncomfortable with any particular image, regarding attribution or copyright, then, yes, it would be good to have it private only to see here on this group.
