Harbour view
Looking across the little harbour at Wollongong, on the NSW south coast. The pole on the left was originally the central pivot point for a crane used for the goods carried by the old coastal steamers early in the last century.

Rottnest Island beach
On the land-facing side of Rottnest Island, which explains the still water. Also featuring fences and benches. :-)
I'm heading away for another short trip, so enjoy yourselves everyone. I expect to be back about this time next week.

Spider on post
I was interested this morning to notice this spider on a fence post. The post is about 50mm across, so I'd think the spider's extended length is about 40mm. I was unsure which genus it belongs to, but it seems it may be one of many identified as Tetragnatha species. Best viewed large.

Wandering Goanna
I'll admit I was surprised, when driving a few days ago, to see this large Goanna wandering along the nature strip outside a neighbour's house. I stopped the car and wished I'd had a longer lens on the camera as I quickly caught this shot. Australia has about 25 species of Goannas, I think this one probably is a Lace Goanna (Varanus varius) , also known as a Lace Monitor. Best viewed large.
