Pied Butcher Bird

Pied Butcher Bird
Australia has several varieties of Butcher Birds, these are reasonably common across all but the southern part of Victoria and South Australia, Tasmania and the southern-most part of Western Australia. They often are found in family groups and have a beautiful fluting and piping call.

Unfortunately it does, Ron, particularly the chicks. During the breeding season, they also will attack people venturing too near their nests.

This reminds me of a carrion crow, but reading about it on the Internet it is a far gentler creature than out native, and has a much nicer song too.
