The jacarandas are flowering
Jacaranda trees, although not native, are very popular in Australia. In late spring and early summer (ie, now) they are covered in a profusion of beautiful flowers which also form colourful carpets under larger trees.

Oh GEORGE! This is just so lovely!! When Steve and I honeymooned in AU some years ago, it was at this very time we were there, and I remember the jaw-dropping purple-blossomed trees that had us falling over in awe! :) I wasn't a photographer at that time but I took a picture in my mind and will never forget those lovely trees.
