Boom and Bust

Boom and Bust
Not what it was in about 1900, when it had 20 hotels, Zeehan is a small former mining town in the west of Tasmania. The imposing building on the left, once the Gaiety Theatre, houses part of a community museum. Happy Fence Friday!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments and faves. Back in the 'boom times', the building fashion was ornate late-Victorian with what are known as 'Federation' colours - seen well here. The town has a real 'museum' feeling overall.

Sadly Ton, like the town, the poor Tasmanian Devils are not what they used to be, as a consequence of an infectious cancer destroying their population.
