These large birds, also known as Sulphur-crested cockatoos, were common visitors. They become quite tame (and often are kept as pets) but can be very destructive.

This is a sensational photo !!

They NEED to be occupied or they can be destructive. I adore parrots... but its too late to take one on now... you have to think so very far ahead with them and accustom them to a possible "new human friend" because they live so long.

Many thanks Pam. This one wasn't a pet, it was part of the local flock (or should that be 'gang'?) which became more relaxed around us than the others. But they could strip an apple tree in no time! You're right though, they live a very long time.
