Indigo is magenta

It took me quite a while to put an ID to these little flowers, growing commonly alongside the road in the forested areas of Gippsland. Finally I have come up with what I think is the answer: they seem to be Australian Indigo Indigofera australis. Now, I would have thought that indigo is a shade of blue, but the reference says the flowers are "attractive pink to lilac..." and all the other details such as leaves seem to fit.
