Great colours and perspective Joe. Thanks for the link. Isn't "isthmus" a nice word! A good read. Cheers, Rosa.

A super shot of the winch Joe, and the colourful bank behind it is beautiful. I love Tarbert. We have been known to had a sneaky go on the outdoor gym equipment along the way, - but almost fell off laughing!!

I didn't see this when we visited Tarbert. Must visit again.
Yes the word isthmus is really special and reminds me of 'Cargoes' which I learnt at school.

Stately Spanish galleon coming from the Isthmus,
Dipping through the Tropics by the palm-green shores,
With a cargo of diamonds,
Emeralds, amethysts,
Topazes, and cinnamon, and gold moidores.

I remember that poem from school, Amelia. I think the line Quinquireme of Nineveh from distant Ophir sounds quite magical.

This winch used to be in the Beardmore Shipyard in Dalmuir, which is not far from where I live. When it was being used on full power in Dickie's Boatyard. the lights in Tarbert would dim.

Thanks for your very kind comment.

All the best,

Joe
