High and Low
A ridge of needles above, and dissected terrain below. This off-white layer of rock is visible all over the park, and (being harder than the red rock layers above and below it) gives rise to many of the interesting formations as the red rock preferentially erodes. In the foreground are the tops of mushroom formations in the "valley of mushrooms" we'd just passed through.

Crust
More desert crust. Somehow, this one approximates the tilt-shift effect, more noticeably when viewed large.
Cathedral
A tight group of needles, which looked like a cathedral and may have even been named that.
Cathedral

A junction of several hiking trails. We stopped for lunch just around the back of this formation to the right.
Reclining Venus
A shape vaguely reminiscent of those "mother goddess" figurines of ur-civilization. The slot canyon or crevice behind the form was surprisingly deep and dark.
Reclining Venus
A broad (no pun intended) shot of the formation with the "mother goddess" shape leaning against it.
Shrooms
Slot Canyon

Just barely wide enough for the pack...had to struggle to turn around to take the picture.

Lush Valley
Well, in the desert, "lush" is of course a relative term. This valley is a lot smaller than it looks at first, only about 50ft deep.
A Beautiful Morning at the KOA
The sun is shining on the cliff above the campsite and the smell of eggs and pancakes is in the air...
Windy Peak
The wind blowing clouds up and over one of the peaks in what I think are the Abajo Mountains -- this was the view from the KOA as we were setting up the tents. Not bad.
The Neck
Bowl
The bowl on the east side of the Neck. Judging from how slowly cars were going up and down this road, it's probably every bit as dicey as it looks.
