In this motel, the mutant hybrid of Dick Clark and Nicolae Ceausescu looks down on you as you sleep.

Considering we have the "Grand Tetons", we're hardly in a position to snicker at Hungary's toponyms.

I saw this across the square, knew it must be some garbage "art" installation, and discovered I was correct. There is an "artist statement" on the plaque on the right, explaining that the random arrangement of scrap metal is - so obviously! - a commentary on "femi(ni)cide" and "entrenched and stagnant systems of power" and blah blah blah whatthefuckever.
For being a city renowned for its art, Vienna seems to like showcasing this kind of crap instead.

In the collapse of Austro-Hungary and then the split of Czechoslovakia, the Slovaks seem to have been left with works by the lesser lights of historical portraiture.
The unnatural posture/proportions here were another recurring theme of this trip (along with severed heads), with the Kastiel Betliar chock full of far more distorted portraits than this.
Unless like the subjects in the Habsburg Family Reunion print these people actually looked like this, and the Slovaks inherited all the realistic portraits...
