Bern – Haus der Religionen
Der Gopuram.
Er bezeichnet in der südindischen religiösen Architektur den Torturm, der den Zugang zum Tempelareal gewährt.
Der Turm hat bestimmte Grössenverhältnisse und er muss von seinem Fuss aus in der gesamten Höhe sichtbar sein. Da er aus dem Gebäude herausragt, musste die durchstossene Decke um den Turm herum in Glas konstruiert werden, damit die Bedingung erfüllt werden konnte.

Und e war auch sehr interessant zuzuschauen, wie die eigens aus Südindien eingeflogenen Tempelbauer nur mit einer kleinen Kelle ausgerüstet alle diese Figuren (ohne jegliche Vorlage!) mit einer speziell hergestellten Baumasse modelliert haben!

Since it protrudes from the building, the pierced ceiling around the tower had to be constructed in glass to meet this condition.
