Dom Mertens

Dom Mertens
Mertens Fashion House is wedged between two buildings which look rather plain in comparison. It is one of the newest developments on the 4.5 km long Nevsky pr. and was built 1910-12 by Marian. S. Lyalievich in the the art nouveau Neo-Renaissance style for Mertens Furriers.

Zara and Zara Home, one of the world's largest fashion houses opened an outlet at this address a few days before I took this photo at 02.30 one morning.

I've just got through this morning without realising it is Friday, so this is a late submission.
HFF and a Merry Christmas to all. Might need to go large to see the fence ;-)

Thank you for your thoughts. The architecture is out of kilter with the rest of the street but the present tenants are being considerate with their use of it. I guess it must be the Spanish influence ;-)
Complements of the season to you.

Thank you, Gudrun. Yes, Zara are being sympathetic but the mayor's office issue many rules stating what can be done and only the real big businesses can find a way around those rules ;-)
Hoping you have a very merry Christmas too.
