'Gostinny Dvor' at 03.45 hrs

The place looks eerily quiet at this early/ late hour, the blue illuminations add to it!

Maybe it would not have looked so eerie if they were not saving a few kopeks by not illuminating the lights on the Christmas tree ;-)

A bit of both. I pre-planned trying my hand at doing a bit of night photography and did not go out until midnight. Five hours later as I was walking back, I was penned in by a police car which had screeched to a halt in front of me. Two armed police leapt out shouting foreign words at me and had guns pointed at my head!. They thought the un-collapsed tripod I was carry was a rifle!

Thank you, George. Day or night, few locals pay little attention to the lighting or building and during the day it is almost impossible to see the ground as so many people are about. Even fewer go inside the building where the prices of goods are off the clock.
