7903 'Foremarke Hall' at Barry scrapyard in 1980
Taken in Woodham's scrapyard on Barry island over 15 yrs after it arrived. Fortunately 7903 was rescued 18 months later and fully restored.

92134, the 9F loco on the left actually departed the scrapyard several months before Foremarke Hall, but has yet to be fully restored. I last saw 92134 when it was stored on the North Yorks Moors Railway in 1981 but it was only there for a few months before moving to Essex where it remained until March of this year when it was taken by road to the East Lancashire Railway to complete its restoration.

Apart from the photographic content, the main reason I'm posting images of Foremarke Hall is because it is all part of a great story. I know someone who as a youngster spent some weekends wire-brushing this loco, .....after his dad was one of the group which clubbed together to fund the purchase of it from the scrapyard.

It looks quite picturesque in its rusty state:-) That reminds me of the train cemetery in Uyuni- but there they are beyond redemption....

Yes George...and almost unbelievable that over 200 locos were recovered from this scrapyard. Mostly through the efforts and donations from ordinary fans of steam engines.

Indeed. A pity it was on both sides...the out side and the in side....as it took longer to resuscitate.
