Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis)(m) A first for here

Well.... after next to no butterflies... a "first" and Lifer for here and me today bringing my butterfly species total here to 51.
This is a Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis) male.
Not a pretty background but you take what you can get ... he was taking minerals off the stones !

They can metabolise minerals from the mud or fine damp on the stones. I had spilt some water earlier and although it was dry then... it leaches minerals out in minute quantities.

51 species?!! HOLY COW!!! I would say I've photographed perhaps a dozen species on our property...you have me beat by a mile! NICE!! :)
Thank you for the comments on my fire pictures--I had no idea that your fireplace isn't real. I cannot stand fake fireplaces. To me they are outrageous and if I lived in such a house, I'd spend the money to remove it because I find them annoying and a constant lie that I see every day. It makes me think about the RVs we've seen on our scouting trips. Some of them have these fake fireplaces and they make me and Steve laugh in scorn. REALLY?!! Wow...just use a heater and get rid of that junk! :D
It has been so nice to see your comments, so thank you very much, Pam. *big huggggggs*
I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE BETTER FAKES !
