Henry's Elfin (Callophrys henrici ) A first for here !

Wellllllllllllll ......... I had a lifetime first butterfly yesterday too !!! Got it double checked at Bugnet . Never seen one here.. and it was smack on the right food !! The Redbud !

I have never seen one here .. wasnt even looking on the right Kaufman pages to ID it ! Its not a spectacular looking one.. but LOVE that its a first after 4 years !

Also... its the first Butterfly of the season here to sit for photo ! There are Yellows coming through but at a distance and never still !

I think you were right on the Paintbrush, Pam. That was my first ID, but I wavered over the fact that it was blooming so early in the season.

Ron.. it seemed to fit the description I was reading which described the leaf pairings .

We get the Indian Paintbrush here... if I am very lucky I get a couple in the garden... but I do see them by the wayside

We have a number of different species here in red, yellow, orange, white and magenta. The red ones are hard to identify, though.
