oho, wie schoen ( IR???)

IR is the abbreviation for "infrared". Normal digital cameras have filters in front of the sensor that block the light spectrum above a certain wavelength. I have removed that filter, to capture these "surreal" images that our eyes can't see directly. They come out in ultra red - the images here are just converted from red to black and white. For example the deciduous trees have a white glow that is stronger the more chlorophyll is inside. Coniferes don' t reflect in that way and stay black.

It could also be done with analogue cameras that use special film.

Thank you. I have to admit there is not much editing done here - in fact you can't "photoshop" this surreal look because there are glows and details that our eyes can't see. It's just black&white conversion and some toning. In my answer to Annamaria I have written some nerdy explainations...
but mostly - I just like the fairytale and dreamlike look :-)))

Black and white conversion is a very good way to emphasize the charm of IR photos. I have rarely seen IR photos with more glow than this form of processing.
I hope you show more of such great shots from time to time. :))
