Lamium Maculatum

Lamium Maculatum
There are lots of varieties of these, but I think this one is more commonly called a Purple Spotted Deadnettle. Actually members of the mint family, but the leaves are similar to those of a nettle, but without the stinging hairs (hence the "deadnettle" name) .

Superb again, Keith!
So it's not of the nettle family but, as you say, of the mint family. I wonder if it's edible or aromatic? And talking of nettles, I wonder who makes nettle soup any more?' I had it in France ages ago and I was with the family when we picked the nettles in the wild (gloves on!). It was, without doubt, one of the nicest soups I've ever had! I should google it I suppose and find a recipe, except that I don't see many nettles where I live

Hi Andy. A quick google will show you that they're a very mild mint, but edible. The leaves and flowers can be used in salads and smoothies (apparently)!

I've never eaten nettle soup - nor do I fancy it to be honest :-)) I'll happily take your word that it's very nice though!

Glad you like the shot.
