A lovely siphonophore


People call these things jellyfish, even in Spanish where they are known as
medusas. But they are not true jellyfish but, rather, apparently a species and genus
and family all to themselves. I can see why they've been known for
centuries as Portuguese man o' wars -- they do look a little like a big
fully-sheeted-out sailing ship.
