The Second Marian Year in Baeza


Stunning tiled picture on public display on Calle San Fransisco, Baeza, Andalucia. Dated 1988.
"The second Marian Year was summoned by Pope John Paul II on January 1, 1987 in the homily of the Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, with the purpose of preparing for the arrival of the new millennium and to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the Christianisation of Lithuania. The second Marian year was opened on June 6, 1987, on the eve of the feast of Pentecost and was closed on August 15, 1988 on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin."
