Dhow

Dhow
The incredibly fast dhow going North in the Indian Ocean, Scan of Kodachrome II dated 1973. The dhow is the generic name of a number of traditional sailing vessels with one or more masts with settee or sometimes lateen sails, used in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean region. Historians are divided as to whether the dhow was invented by Arabs or Indians. Typically sporting long thin hulls, dhows are trading vessels primarily used to carry heavy items, such as fruit, fresh water, or other heavy merchandise, along the coasts of Eastern Arabia (Arab states of the Persian Gulf), East Africa, Yemen and coastal South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh). Larger dhows have crews of approximately thirty, smaller ones typically around twelve. Wiki.

Grazie mille cara Beatrice, but it was so long ago that to me who was fishing Blue Water Marlin in this far away Ocean, it seems like it never existed, that it can not be/was the same person. And that has to be true for the things I have learned, teached, seen and suffered, built and destroyed in the meantime, are out there and we can not and will never repeat them again. It is now the after taste of our own autumn. Smile please for it is not everyday nor in public that I am so true to myself.
