And it was just lying on the sidewalk, dC, when I left my building one morning.

It has been a long time since I started thinking about this green sphere.

Green and sandy, with a little vegetation growing on it.
Quaint indeed...

I hadn't thought about that interpretation, kiiti, but I think it may have been lurking in my unconscious waiting to be freed. Thanks for bringing it out.

Simple, but very effective..........I thought at first, this was an example of the use of selective colour, but looking closer I don't believe it is.

Very well observed John. I think most of us would have just walked past this without a thought. You have a good eye for this sort of oddity!

Thanks, Keith. Nope, it's an entire colour photograph. I think any eye I have comes from just being fascinated by everything I see. You may remember Billy Connolly's routine about people who go for walks -- "Oh, look! A bird! I'm glad I came!". That's me. So I look at everything.

That's a great way to go about life John. My wife always complains that it takes me ages to get anywhere because I'm always looking for interesting and odd stuff to take photos of, but after many years, she's getting used to it.

As Berenice Abbott and other photographers have siad, photography teaches you to see. Since I took up ohotography I am seeing many more things.

Yes! I would go as far as to say that taking up photography has completely changed the way I look at nearly everything :-))

Tennis ball chewed by dog, I think. Quite a common object around here. I’ll take more notice of the next one I find !

Yes, I think a dog has done some extensive work with this ball, Steve. An artistic dog.
