And it was a breath pf fresh air. There are people these days arguing that art ended with Beaux-Arts painting, but that style was so orderly and organized that to me it provided no interest or inspiration at all. No doubt it had been stimulating at one time, but everything had been done with it that could be done. The same could be said of abstract expressionism. The Pop artists were like Miles Davis, who freed bop from the dead end it had driven itself into.
