Thanks, Steve. I suspect it would lose its charm without the crumbly bit. I think I'll check that out.

I'm less familiar with Peter Blake than with Jasper Johns, Denis, but I'm familiar enough with him to see you're right -- he could well have been an influence, too. I've also posted a couple of photos here that seem to have been influenced by Ed Ruscha's gas station paintings.
