Thanks, William. This is actually an elevated walkway a flight of stairs up from the sidewalk. So I was on the sidewalk shooting over the top of a wall.

This has much more drama than the abstracted image, more a sense of exploring the city, trying to get under its skin, more energy, in my opinion.

Thanks, Steve. That was pretty much what I thought when I took this, but for a while I was seduced by the geometry of the other shot. This photo is more of a story, which, according to what I read, is a Good Thing.
