Anyway, great capture of the conflict between the government's desired messaging - yay, celebrate 150 - and the aboriginal protest of living conditions, a sobering reality.

Thanks, Will. A good capture of the disc. Dolphin has reliefs on other buildings. At the Air Canada Centre there's one from its days as a postal facility showing Indians attacking a mail train. That never happened in Canada (if anywhere), so maybe a plaque to acknowledge that might help in reconciliation. Better would be to commission another relief to replace it.

One of the reasons I like Douglas Coupland's War of 1812 memorial at Fleet and Bathurst is that it makes the point that history degenerates into stereotypes.

A very poignant image and link John....................suicide (particularly by the young) has been in the news over here lately as well. So sad.

I agree, Keith. One of the problems here is that many of the reserves with this problem are isolated in the North. Out of sight, out of mind. Another factor, I think, is the absence of reserves near Toronto. The closest I can think of is 60 miles away. In other words, even reserves in the South are out of sight and mind for a large portion of the population.
