Ligeti, Lontano, a bewitching fresco, micro-tonal as I wanted this view of the rooftops of Paris, a city where our soul evolves willingly, indescribably and as far as the eye can see; and where it gets lost drunk with landmarks...

Composed in 1967, this composition for large orchestra depicts the opening and closing of "a window on long submerged dream worlds of childhood" (Ligeti). Dream images appear, briefly coalesce and then dissipate.
