You have to climb a little to enjoy the view - HFF

The Montjoie rocks are a picturesque and historic site on the edge of a plateau rising to an altitude of 314 m. ‘Montjoie’ (Mount Joy) was the cry uttered by pilgrims on their way to Mont-Saint-Michel when they first saw the destination of their journey (see 1st PiP). The place is also known as the site of the bloody Battle of Mortain in August 1944. A plaque and a stele pay tribute to these soldiers.

"Montjoie!" est le cri poussé par les pèlerins en route pour le Mont-Saint-Michel lorsqu'ils aperçoivent pour la première fois le but de leur voyage (voir 1er PiP). L'endroit est également connu comme haut lieu de la bataille sanglante de Mortain en août 1944. Une plaque et une stèle rendent hommage à ces soldats.

(Berg Freude) ist der Ausruf der Pilger auf dem Weg zum Mont-Saint-Michel, wenn sie das Ziel ihrer Reise zum ersten Mal sehen (siehe 1. PiP). Der Ort ist auch als Schauplatz der blutigen Schlacht von Mortain im August 1944 bekannt. Eine Gedenktafel und eine Stele erinnern an diese Soldaten.
