Vieux pressoir à cidre

Il est constitué d'une auge circulaire en granit dans laquelle les pommes sont écrasées au moyen d'une roue en granit (appelée la meule), entraînée par un cheval qui tourne la plupart du temps dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre. Sur la 2ème photo d'un pressoir en meilleur état on se rend bien compte.

OLD CIDER PRESS. It consists of a circular granite trough in which the apples are crushed by means of a granite wheel (called the millstone), driven by a horse that turns mostly clockwise. You can see this well in the 2nd photo of a press in better condition.

ALTE APFELWEINPRESSE. Sie besteht aus einem runden Granittrog, in dem die Äpfel mithilfe eines Granitrads (dem sogenannten Mühlstein) zerquetscht werden. Das Rad wird von einem Pferd angetrieben, das sich meist im Uhrzeigersinn dreht. Auf dem 2. Foto einer Presse in besserem Zustand kann man das gut erkennen.

Merci Pascal. Aujourd'hui, sans cheval, on utilise plutôt des pressoirs verticaux en bois à cliquet ou hydrauliques - c'est moins pittoresque mais plus facile à manier....

Merci Nicolas. Non, d'abord c'est le pommeau, un alcool apéritif obtenu par l’assemblage de jus de pommes non fermenté et d'eau-de-vie, avec un degré d'alcool de 16 à 18°.

Danke Güni, das ist in der Normandie und in der Bretagne ein ganz gewöhnlicher Gegenstand, den man noch oft in den Dörfern sieht - zwar nicht mehr zu seinem ursprünglichen Zweck, sondern als Dekoration mit Blumen.

Danke Kalli, kommt darauf an, wo man wohnt : in der Normandie und der Bretagne sieht man sie oft, diese alte Apfelpressen, heute allerdings meistens als Dekoration und mit Blumen bepflanzt.
