THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WASH HOUSE IN BRITTANY... The "Pertus Chaud" wash house (end of 18th C.) where the laundresses are expected. A charming place where so many "Mère Denis" from Quintin rubbed, soaped, whipped and rinsed the family laundry ...
For non-French people: "Mère Denis" was an old lady who in 1972 became the emblem of the Vedette washing machine brand. She shot several commercials until 1980.

Für Nicht-Franzosen: "Mère Denis" war eine alte Dame, die 1972 zum Wahrzeichen der Waschmaschinenmarke Vedette wurde. Sie drehte bis 1980 mehrere Werbespots.

Un beau et admirable rendu d'une période révolue ou seul les bons souvenirs restent. Comme chez nous (moins beau que ce superbe lavoir), c'était un lieu de rencontre et d'échange pour les femmes... Tout ce qui se passait dans le village transitait par le "Lavoir".

Merci Malik. Effectivement, je pense que c'était un lieu de bavardage et de potins aussi, et malgré le dur labeur, ces femmes-là étaient sûrement contentes de pouvoir échapper à leur vie courante.

Ja, das ist wirklich ein schöner Platz. Sicher wurde hier auch viel Information (Klatsch) ausgetauscht. Heute bestimmt ein schöner Platz um einfach auszuruhen oder ein bisschen nachzudenken.

Danke Hans, ich denke auch, dass Klatsch und Geplauder hier an der Tagesordnung waren, während die Frauen ihre Wäsche wuschen - aber jedenfalls fühlten sie damals nicht die malerische Stimmung, die einem heute überkommt, wenn man dort auf der Bank sitzt....

Merci Véro. Moi aussi, je me suis éprise de ce bel endroit. Il avait été abandonné pendant longtemps avant qu'il ne soit décidé de le "sauver", la municipalité a vraiment fait des gros efforts pour le rendre agréable - et c'est réussi. Bises et bon weekend.

Danke Wiebke, das kann ich mir vorstellen, in Deutschland sind heute solche Waschhäuser eher selten (bei St. Ingbert im Saarland habe ich mal ein sehr schönes gesehen), während hier fast jedes Dorf noch sein Waschhaus hat. Allerdings nicht so schön hergerichtet wie dieses...

Danke Karsten. Richtig, ausser dass die Mère Denis für eine Waschmaschine Werbung gemacht hat, und die Klementine für ein Waschmittel (war es nicht Omo oder Ariel ?). Und die Mère Denis war so richtig uralt, eine liebe alte Oma noch von früher, Schau mal hier...
