The castle had an arduous history: it begins in 1049 when it was besieged by William the Conqueror, and endend in 1608 when the Duc of Sully ordered its demolition.

Danke Volker, in diesem Park gibt es viele Bänke, man hat also die Wahl, von welcher Seite man die Ruinen bewundern will... Eine schöne Woche.

WOW! Someone needs to cut this poor castle some slack, it's had nothing but bad luck! What better, then, to have a seat at that bench and mull over the stressful past of this place. :D

Thanks Janet, indeed, there were some eventful times for this castle. But after all, 1000 years later, we can still admire its ruins ... I don't think our buildings today will have resisted in 1000 years!! Stay well.
