Turn! - HFF!

Robert Wilson's Propeller, Dunbar Harbour. The son of a fisherman, Robert Wilson from Dunbar left school at nine years old. He went on to invent, among other things, a type of screw propeller which he demonstrated in 1827. The patent however was awarded to another inventor in 1836.

As a second tribute I have added 'Respect' as my own mark of respect to this great singer, and also for the young boy who had little in the way of education but is still recognised today for his achievements

Thank you very much Pam. Really appreciated. It must have been a hard life for him - he lost his father at sea when he was only seven. Later despite successful trials of his propeller and winning a prize from the Highland Society and the Scottish Society of Arts he had to abandon his trials because of debts. Sadly the Admiralty would not back him and he therefore did not gain the recognition he deserved.
