Holes

Holes
Decay in the Winter Sunlight

The old pier - Birnbeck Island, Weston Super Mare.with Flat Holm island and lighthouse in the background, beyond which is the coast of South Wales.
The old RNLI lifeboat station pictured here has closed now. When the pier began to deteriorate a walkway was built beside it to enable the lifeboat crews to access the station. However this too became unsafe and a new temporary base has been found on the promenade.

Nice to see the photo, but not in reality as it is such a waste. An interesting presentation.

I like the photograph, and I appreciated the history. Few people add a commentary, and it can be so valuable, no matter how good the picture. As only an occasional visitor to Weston super Mare, I was not aware of Birnbeck island. I clearly need to get out more - though not during the Covid pandemic. A future trip, I hope.

Thank you very much. I am pleased you like it. I am often guilty of not adding enough information to my images even though I know how much I appreciate the notes of others. I believe there was more talk of trying to do something to this site but I guess Covid19 has probably stopped that for the time being.
