Decay in the Winter Sunlight The old pier - Birnbeck Island, Weston Super Mare.with Flat Holm island and lighthouse in the background, beyond which is the coast of South Wales. The old RNLI lifeboat station pictured here has closed now. When the pier began to deteriorate a walkway was built beside it to enable the lifeboat crews to access the station.
