Erinnerung an meine Heimatstadt - Memory of my hometown

Eine der "klassischen" Ansichten von der Alten Mainbrücke (jetzt Willigisbrücke) auf die Stadt Aschaffenburg mit dem schönen Renaissance-Schloss Johannisburg, das im 17. Jahrhundert erbaut und Ende des 2. Weltkrieges fast total zerstört wurde. Aus meiner Kindheit kannte ich noch die Ruine, von der damals viele sagten, sie könne nie mehr aufgebaut werden. In der Folgezeit investierte der Bayerische Staat enorme Geldmittel in den Aufbau und 1964 konnte das Schloss wieder eröffnet werden. Eine Besichtigung dieses bedeutenden Renaissance-Schlosses lohnt sich! Auf den Wiesen im Bild, die in meiner Kindheit baumlos waren, haben wir als Jugendliche sehr häufig Fußball gespielt. Inzwischen hat Aschaffenburg entlang des Mains eine Art Bürgerpark geschaffen.
