SEAHORSE

minuscule
& moving through
a limpid stillness
as if
under remote
divine control
the seahorse
upright glides
stops
taxis backwards
then sinks
dangling down
to a web of weeds
before tilting
(feigning the faintest
inebriation)
& turning
almost motionless
on its axis
a Nijinsky
of the lagoon
such ciphering strangeness
such slow-floating gentleness
(tail an uncurling fern
trickling over stones)
creatures our dreams
swims into
our mythologies
not a fish twisting & thrashing
in crackles of blinding colour
but a delicate balance balancing
nothing against nothing
an equilibrium
contained
in a sea of happiness
///
CAVALO-MARINHO
minúsculo
movimenta-se pela
límpida quietude
como se
sob um divino
controlo remoto
o cavalo-marinho
desliza na vertical
pára
recua
depois mergulha
estaciona numa teia
de ervas daninhas
antes de se inclinar
(fingindo uma leve
embriaguez)
e virar-se
quase parado
no seu eixo
um Nijinsky
da lagoa
esse código estranho
essa lenta flutuação gentil
(a cauda uma samambaia enrolada
a gotejar sobre as pedras)
preenche os nossos sonhos
nada para
as nossas mitologias
não um peixe contorcido a debater-se
em crepitações de cor inebriante
mas um delicado balanço balanceado
nada contra nada
um contido
equilíbrio
num mar de felicidade
