Das Pferd monumental - Leonardo da Vinci

LEONARDO DA VINCI . VISIONS
Mostra da Montepulciano - Dal 14 Maggio 2017 al 17 Settembre 2017
Fortezza e Giardino di Poggiofanti, Montepulciano
The equestrian statue
Francesco Sforzas, also known as Cavallo di Leonardo, Il Cavallo, or Sforza-Cavallo, was a planned, but never executed cavalry statue for Francesco Sforza to be built between 1489 and 1500 in Milan. The statue was designed by Leonardo da Vinci from 1488/1489 on behalf of Ludovico Sforza (1452-1508), Regent and later Duke of Milan.
In his artistic career, Leonardo worked only twice intensively on the art form of sculpture, on an equestrian statue and in 1511 on the monument of Gian Giacomo Trivulzio (Trivulzio-Grabmonument). Both projects were not implemented and never came beyond planning and compiling models.

Ciao
Fabio
