Utricularia bisquamata (Bladderwort)

Another terrestrial Bladderwort, the brightly coloured flowers on this one are about 6-7 mm across on thin wiry stems that can reach about 90mm in height. When not in flower the plants are almost invisible, just a few leaves are to be seen on the surface of the substrate, the stems and traps are below the surface. The tiny traps can only catch the tiniest of prey such as protozoa that can survive and move through the saturated compost.
